  1. Energy usage and wastage
    1. Lots of appliances and lights waste energy when left on
      1. Lots of energy is generated by non-sustainable methods like fossil fuels
      2. Problems with plastic
        1. Many single-use plastic items like water bottles are thrown away creating a lot of waste
          1. Non-recyclable plastics can create lots of waste
            1. Not sustainable as created from crude oil - a finite resource
            2. Physical waste
              1. Bad for environment
                1. Builds up in landfill sites
                  1. Old electrical appliances dumped
                    1. Paper wastage/ people not recycling it
                      1. Shred and recycle printer
                    2. Air pollution created from emissions
                      1. Can impact people's health significantly
                        1. Food transportation creates a lot of pollution, especially if it is flown to factories
                          1. Vehicles used for travel can release a lot of emissions
                            1. Electric cars could use energy from a non-renewable source so they may not be a perfect solution
                            2. Can increase the rate of climate change which is bad for the environment
                            3. Deforestation
                              1. Results in habitat loss and can cause species to go extinct
                                1. Could be caused by unsustainable logging
                                  1. Reduces trees and increases the rate of climate change
                                  2. Agriculture and food production
                                    1. Land deforested to make space for crop fields
                                      1. Current farming methods may not be sustainable enough to feed future populations with crops dying from climate change
                                        1. GM crops could be a solution
                                        2. Food production requires a lot of energy and could waste a lot of water which may not be sustainable
                                          1. Meat production is not sustainable
                                            1. Animals release methane, a greenhouse gas - contributes to climate change
                                              1. Animals require a lot of crops to rear them which could go to people instead FACT
                                            2. Food wastage
                                              1. Lots of food is thrown away by households
                                                1. Many people around the world still don't have enough food and are malnourished
                                                  1. Rotting food creates methane - a greenhouse gas
                                                    1. Could collect the methane gas and use it as a biofuel
                                                  2. Inequalities in the world
                                                    1. Gender inequality
                                                      1. Wealth inequalities
                                                        1. Racial inequalities
                                                        2. Poverty (and associated issues)
                                                          1. Homelessness/bad living conditions
                                                            1. Education should be available for all
                                                              1. Identity verification is a problem as 1.1 billion people don't have a way to prove their identity (Arm Holdings, 2018)
                                                                1. Could mean lack of medical records
                                                                  1. Could have issues getting finances
                                                                2. Water problems
                                                                  1. Around the world there is water scarcity and drought
                                                                    1. Water wastage in the house
                                                                      1. Cleaning/washing
                                                                        1. Through taps (output of 8 litres a minute)
                                                                          1. Baths/showers can take a lot of water
                                                                            1. Special shower head
                                                                        2. Water is a basic necessity and everyone should have access to clean water
                                                                          1. Portable water filter
                                                                            1. Lots of water and energy could be wasted in purifying and treating water
                                                                              1. 3 litres wasted for every litre produced (RO filter)
                                                                            2. Sources of water e.g. aquifers and resevoirs could be running out
