    1. Drainage basins is the area of land drained by a river.
      1. Drainage basins are separated by a boundary called a watershed.
      2. There are inputs of water into the drainage basin, flows of water though them and outputs of water from the drainage basin.
        1. Inputs: Precipitation
          1. Flows: Surface runoff, channel flow, infiltration, throughflow. groundwater flow and percolation.
            1. Stores: Channel storage, groundwater storage, interception storage and surface storage.
              1. Outputs: evaporation, transpiration, river flow into the sea.
