Los plásticos son materiales sintéticos , de origen orgánico, fácilmente moldeables por calor y presión
Se diferencian en tres grandes tipos:
Termoplásticos
Se ablandan con el calor,y se pueden moldear y fundir, las veces que se desee.
Termoestables
Pueden ser moldeables mediante calor, pero una vez moldeables, no se les puede atribuir una forma diferente.
Elastómeros
Materiales muy flexibles que recuperan su forma y sus dimensiones cuando dejan de actuar sobre ellos las fuerzas externas.
