Why Shakespeare is relevant in modern day drama?
  1. Easy to fit with the EPQ requirements
    1. Yes as I have not studied this before.
    2. Time
      1. I will be able to start research effectively as I will already have initial understanding of the topics
      2. Achievability
        1. There is endless arguments to discuss about the works of Shakespeare and definitely holds enough significance. Also Shakespeare is performed all across the world therefore I can discuss the significance in various cultures and countries which could make the piece more broad or specific.
        2. Personal interests
          1. I have lot of interest in drama and production and also in Shakespeare and the history of himself and his plays
            1. I don't want to get stuck analysing the language and english, want to focus more on performance.
          2. Help available
            1. There are various drama, literature and historical references to Shakespeare. Also new playwrights and actors and directors opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of the relevance of Shakespeare
            2. Your motivation
              1. This will be helpful later on as I would maybe like to study drama further after A Levels.
                1. Only really relates to one of my chosen subjects but might make me realise English is something I am interested in more. Does not involve any art studies.
              2. Ease of finding information
                1. Many historical accounts of Shakespeare from his era. Also lots of previous discussions about Shakespeare from writers and playrights.
                2. Current coursework
                  1. We studied Romeo and Juliet at GCSE but as long as I do not only focus on that play or avoid it all together then that is fine. Previous analysis of Shakespeare at GCSE might help.
                  2. Ethics
                    1. Is your project ‘ethical’?
                      1. I can discuss the sexism. racism, prejudice displayed within Shakespeare and discuss the negative impacts they have on society nowadays compared to during their age. Also can discuss in which cultures and classes Shakespeare is most relevant.
                    2. Current knowledge
                      1. I studied Shakespeare in English GCSE and also did GCSE drama
