    1. It protects society from the criminal

                1. It serves as a strong deterrent to potential offenders

                    1. It goes against the command 'thou shall not murder'
                      1. The government should consider how the family of the criminal would feel
                        1. There is no proof that execution has served as a deterrent as there has been no real change in crime rates in the USA
                          1. It does not allow for restorative justice
                            1. Rehabilitation should be induced to help the criminal
                              1. If the criminal is mentally ill, he should be helped not killed
