Beliefs About Deity
ONTOLOGICAL
COSMOLOGICAL
TELEOLOGICAL
The universe and everything in it is complicated a perfectly adapted to its purpose - such perfection could only be achieved by God
If God is a perfectionist why are there so many imperfections in the universe e.g. global warming
Nothing else can explain what caused universe to be created or the 'First Cause' - God is the only explanation
The universe could have happened by accident, and if not, who created God?
God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived and so therefore exists
This is not proof, it is just a proposal or theory
RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE
UPBRINGING
MORALITY
Everyone knows the difference between 'right' and 'wrong' - this reasoning can only come from God
Morality is formed from upbringing and societal values
Some believers are due to family upbringing and so do not question their faith nor the existence of God
The fact that they have not questioned it makes it blind faith
A miracle, prayer or vision may prove the existence of God to an individual
This may convince the individual but proves nothing to anyone else
