Environmental And Medical issues

  3. Temperature change would change conditions in different habitats that organisms are adapted to
    1. this could endanger a speices or even make a species extinct

4. Muslims and the enviroment

    3. Stopping wars follows situation ethics and is the foundations of their beliefs

2. Why do wars occur

  1. Muhammed (great example of how to live life): fought in wars
  2. Qur'an: fight if you are attacked
  3. Muhammed taught to fight in just wars- final prophet of Allah
  4. Anyone who die fighting in a just war will go straight to heaven
4. Bullying
  1. Viollence without any just cause is wrong
  2. It goes against situation ethics
  3. God/Allah may punish them o judgment day
  4. It does not fit Jesus teachings
  5. It is wrong to hurt God's creation
  6. Form of cruelty and Muslims should work to end cruelty
5. Conflict in Families
  1. Burial: may not be able to be buried together due to being of different faiths
  2. Alcohol: Want to go out with friends who drink and parents may disagree
  3. Diets: Hindu's donot eat beef so if a catholic marries a hindu theere may be disagreement abut diet
  4. Disagreement over where the children should be baptised and attend church
  5. Contraception: different views about whether to use them or not
6. Just war
  1. Must be the last resort
  2. The methods used are proportional to the cause (no wmd for tiny island)
  3. Avoid killing civillians
  4. Being fought in the intention of bring peace

  1. Set up to work for world and to maintain world peace
  2. Aim to develop friendly relations among countries by resolving conflicts that have broken out
  3. They try to prevent conflicts from starting by providing negotiators to talk out problelms
  4. They send peacekeepers into troubled areas to maintain peace and order
Crime and Punishment
1. Is justice important

  2. Bible and qur'an teaches about equality whic justice allows
  3. punished on Judgement day for not not treating everyone fairly and seeking justice

3. Punishments for crimes
  1. Retribution
    1. Makes criminals suffer for what they have done
    2. The crime may not be their fault so they suffer for no reason
    3. The idea that criminals should pay for their crimes
  2. Deterrance
    1. people would be too scared to commit crimes
    2. The idea that the punishment should put people off committing another crime
    3. some may be unafraid of the punishment
  3. Reform
    1. the idea that criminals should be taught not to commit crimes again
    2. It is the only way the criminal will not commit a crime agin
    3. there is nothing to stop the crime from happening in the first place
  4. Protection
    1. Stops people from getting hurt and protects the weak who would suffer most from the crimes
    2. The idea that punishment should protect society from the criminals
    3. Some criminals may not be dangerous so would not need this and this would not benefit them or stop them from committing crimes
4. Capital Punishment

    2. Many religions support it (Christianity/Islam)
    3. It will act as a deterance
    4. They have been immoral and sinned

    2. Jesus taught to forgive and killing is not forgiving

    4. If wrong person killed then it cannot be corrected
5. Health Problems and laws

      1. It is illegal to allow drugs to be taken or stored on your premises
      2. The police can stop, detain and searching people suspected of taking or posesing drugs
      3. It is illegal to supply or offer an illegal drug
      4. it is illegal to possess a controlled substance unlawfully

      3. Young people aged 16 or 17 can drink beer, wine or cider with a meal if it is bought and they are are accompanied by an adult
      4. It is against the law for under 18s to purchase an alcoholic drink
