Annotations:

  • Variable of an experiment that does not change
  1. Control Group

    Annotations:

    • Essentially a constant in the form of a group of individuals or organisms or objects that are not being experimented on, but merely compared to the experimental group.
    1. Experimental Group

      Annotations:

      • The opposite of a control group, the experimental group is the group that is tested with whatever experimental substance the scientist is testing.
      1. Variable

        Annotations:

        • What is being tested in an experiment.  Scientists can also improve the variable based on previous results.
        1. Hypothesis

          Annotations:

          • An educated guess based upon observations using the five senses conducted by scientists
          1. Theory

            Annotations:

            • A hypothesis that has been proven and is generally accepted by the scientific community.
            1. Error

              Annotations:

              • When something unexpected happens in an experiment; it can render the results false/inaccurate
