Functionalists VS Marxists
Functionalist - everything in society is set up to keep things stable. They don't like change
Marxists - society is unfair and they want things to change
Functionalists are in favour of education because it helps you fit into society and stops things from changing
Marxists are not in favour of education as they think it is unfair that schools group people by ability and put a limit on what they can do. They believe doing this will push people into higher/lower paid jobs which is unfair.
