Hypothalamus
1 Anterior Pituitary
1.1 Growth hormone
1.1.1 Promotes growth of the entire body by affecting protein formation, cell multiplication and cell differentiation
1.2 Adrenocorticotropin hormone (ACTH or corticotropin): controls secretion of some of the adrenal cortical hormones (primarily glucocorticoids)
1.3 TSH (thyrotropin): controls the rate of secretion of thyroxine and triiodothyronine by the thyroid gland. Control intracellular reaction rates
1.4 Prolactin: promotes mammary gland development and milk production
1.5 Gonadotropic hormones: FSH and LH which control growth of , hormonal and reproductive activities of the testis and ovaries
2 Posterior pituitary
2.1 ADH (Vasopressin): controls the rate of water excretion in the collecting ducts of the kidney
2.2 Oxytocin: helps promote milk excretion from the mammary glands during breast feeding and also contractions during labour
3 Hormones secreted by the hypothalamus
3.1 Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)
3.1.1 paraventricular nucleus
3.2 Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)
3.2.1 ventromedial nucleus
3.3 Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)
3.3.1 paraventricular nucleus
3.4 Growth-hormone releasing hormone GHRH
3.4.1 arcuate nucleus
3.5 Growth-hormone inhibitory hormone (somatostatin)
3.5.1 periventricular nucleus
3.6 Prolactin-inhibiting hormone (dopamine)
3.6.1 arcuate nucleus
