1 1) Transpiration
1.1 The return of water (as water vapour) to the atmosphere by plants.
2 2) Condensation
2.1 The change of a state from water vapour (a gas) to a liquid (when cooled).
3 4) Infiltration
3.1 The gradual movement of water through the soil and into the ground below.
4 6) Groundwater flow
4.1 The movement of water beneath the ground towards rivers / the sea.
5 3) Precipitation
5.1 Water falling, under gravity, from the sky; there are many forms, i.e. snow, rain and hail.
6 1) Evaporation
6.1 The change of state from liquid water to a gas (when heated).
7 7) Channel flow
7.1 The movement of water within the river channel.
8 4) Surface runoff
8.1 The down slope movement of water over the surface of the land, towards river channels.
