        1. People urinate or defecate in rivers but people may have intentions to use this water as drinking water
          1. Companies sometimes dispose of their toxic waste in rivers or the ocean, which is illegal. However if they do this is pollutes the waters and can wipe out species of fish as they can get poisoned by the waste
            1. People may chuck litter into oceans and rivers creating sea litter and this can put animals in serious danger as they can get caught in them and die
            2. Air pollution
              1. ACID RAIN
                1. Sulphur Dioxide is released into the atmosphere by the fumes from cars and factories
                  1. This makes the air slightly acid which then pollutes rain clouds
                    1. This then produces slightly acidic rain.
                2. GLOBAL WARMING
                  1. C02 is released into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels e.g. cars and factories.
                    1. As C02 is a greenhouse gas, it increases the thickness of the O-zone layer. This means less and less infra-red rays are escaping the atmosphere,
                      1. This means the earth's temperature is slowly rising which means ice caps are melting, resulting in the sea level rising.
                  2. Carbon Monoxide is released when fossil fuels are burnt. This gas is very toxic and if too much is inhaled it can be deadly as it causes carbon monoxide poisoning.
                  3. Land Polltuion
                    1. Landfill sites get filled with lots of unrecyclable solid materials. Because they don't biodegrade easily, the amount of rubbish starts to build up and it can cause great harm to the people and animals around them.
                      1. Pesticides and fertilizers, although used to speed up growth in plants, can cause harm as animals eat them ands this can poison them. Also, it ends up on our food/
                        1. Chemical and nuclear power plants produce poisonous waste that has to be stored somewhere. Some are stored underground however this can polute the soil and disrupt out plants.
                          1. Deforestation is where trees are chopped down for a variety of uses. It means the level of C02 rises as there are less trees to absorb it. Also, it disrupts animals habitats and can cause them to become extinct.
                            1. It takes trees a long time to grow so our forests are slowly disappearing as the trees cannot grow as quickly as they're being chopped down.
