1. the student needs to learn how to group objects by a specific feature or attribute
2. Ex: a number of pencils and rubbers are presented and the student needs to group them

Pattern Recognition
1. Minecraft blocks - green and red alternate blocks
2. Jump and clap then clap and jump
Matching and 1 to 1 correspondence
1. To be able to match one set to another sets up to one to once correspondence
2. MATCH OBJECTS: Sorting PEGS in colours or by shape
3. SETS: School uniform top, corresponding trousers
4. 1 to 1 CORRESPONDENCE: for every top, one pair of trousers
5. Students wan to play: how many balls are needed for each to have one
Ordering and sequencing
1. Putting events ideas and numbers in logical order
2. PICTURE SEQUENCING: Cut sequential pictures that interest the student. Start with 2 pictures then increase to 3, 4 and so on. Tell the student to put them in order
Spatial Orientation & Space Organisation
1. An idea of size and space
2. Pick the pen from underneath the desk
3. Place the book inside your satchel
Visualisation
1. Story sums - place a drawing
2. Resources with more pictures and less words
3. Mind map instead of paragraphs
Step by Step direction
1. Play: Simon Says
2. Checklist - step by step and tick
3. To add sequential numbers, provide NUMBER GRID to help in counting
4. Visual representation of step by step direction to perform a sum
