Students must be able to: Describe the structure and function of the nervous system at the level of synaptic transmission, gross anatomy and circuitry and sensory input and processing. Describe scientific techniques and design experimental strategies for neuroscience research. Synthesise ideas from across the module into coherent arguments. Acquire, analyse, interpret and write up experimental data. Solve problems related to experimental neuroscience.   Main topics covered in lectures: Cell biology of the neuron and the synapse. Neuroanatomy, circuitry and pharmacology. Sensory neuroscience.
