The first professionally produced music video I will be analysing is called Try by Pink. This was produced by Greg Kurstin and was written by Busbee and Ben West. This was released on October 29, 2012.This video is very similar to my three chosen potential music tracks as it is about not giving up and striving to make things better. Also, the use of contemporary dance is exactly what I want to include in my video. The music track is about love being all about taking risks. It is also about hanging onto your dreams no matter the consequences and risks. It is a very performance based video as Pink and the male express their emotions (frustrations) through contemporary dance.Themes: love, consequences, risks, struggles, dreams, feelings, past, future, tension. Motifs: There are only two locations which keeps getting repeated which suggests that if they don't sort out their differences, they will be trapped in the same situation and go around in circles.Mise en scene: Pink is wearing ripped clothes and this represents the pain she is going through due to the relationship and also represents her struggles which connotes the extent to which they have been striving to make the relationship work. Futhermore, her clothes being ripped suggests that she is physically and emotionally worn out trying to save the relationship. There are only two isolated location which keeps getting repeated which suggests that if they don't sort out their differences, they will be trapped in the same situation and go around in circles. Camera angles: The music video starts off with an establishing shot which represents the locations being isolated which suggests that they are both at war between themselves without anyone influencing them and also represents them being trapped in that situation. There is a close-up of the two of them showing the intensity on their faces and the pain they feel. Editing: There is a cross cut where Pink is by herself, this foreshadows the future of her being by herself and the fact that she has bright colours on her represents that she will have freedom and is better of alone.Lip synching: starts off with lip synching about the male being in the wrong which sets the scene immediately as we know that they are going through a rough patch in their relationship due to his "lies".Target audience: Adults in a relationship, most likely married. How are they encouraged to buy the record: In a way, the video and lyrics give off a strong message to never give up no matter the consequences, which suggests that it's almost advice for the target audience. The music video represents Pink perfectly as she always likes to give out strong messages. What ideas could I use in my own music video: The bright colours which could potentially give out the message that there will always be a good outcome no matter what you go through.
