Resonance

Every object has a natural or fundamental requency

This is the frequency at which an object vibrates when it is struck or plucked - for example a guitar string

Resonance is the tendency of an object to oscillate with greater amplitude at certain frequencies

If you play the natural frequency of an object close to in, it will begin to vibrate at a very large amplitude - i.e. it will resonate

The higher the amplitude, the more violently the object will vibrate - this is how glasses are broken using sound
