Russia 1917 - 1924 Lenin's Russia

Our course begins with some background to the conditions in Russia prior to the October Revolution in 1917. We learn about life under Tsar Nicholas and the reasons for the discontentment of the ordinary Russian folk that led to the rise of Communism.

World War 1 had a major impact in sowing the seeds for the changes to come. This mind map outlines the main reasons why Russia were defeated in World War 1, from socio and economic factors to the poor leadership of the army and the Tsar.

As the Bolsheviks took power post the October revolution, they looked to improve social conditions in Russia with a number of social reforms. Some were self serving no doubt, and this mind map outlines the main initiatives instigated around this time.
