How Did The Constitution Protect Against Tyranny?

Tyranny: Cruel or oppressive rule

The Great Compromise

Background:

Effects

The Great Compromise was created when people realized there were some major problems with the Articles of Confederation. Members of Congress wanted to form a more effective government for the people.

A compromise was reached by Roger Sherman, who proposed that there would be two houses of Senate, one with 2 members per colony, and another with varying quantities of members based on population were represented.

After a month of Debate, an effective compromise was reached, that provided a strong national government.

An example of tyranny would be the British towards the English colonists.
