- 1What is Computer storage measured using?(until gigabyte)bit, nibble, byte, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte.
- 2How many bits go into a nibble?4 bits is a nibble.
- 3How many bits go into a byte?8 bits go into a byte.
- 4How many nibbles go into a byte?2 nibbles go into a byte.
- 5How many bytes go into a kilobyte?1,000 bytes go into a kilobyte.
- 6How many bytes go into a megabyte?1,000,000 bytes go into a megabyte
- 7How many kilobytes go into a megabyte?1,000 kilobytes go into a megabyte.
- 8How many megabytes go into a gigabyte?1,000 megabytes go into a gigabyte.
- 9What is the purpose of data compression in terms of storage and transmission? The purpose of data compression is to compress the data and arrange the data so it takes up less storage.
- 10How are numbers represented in binary?Numbers are represented using bit-systems.E.g. 12 in a 4-bit would be 1100
Binary is a base 2 number system, it only has 2 numbers: 1 and 0 - 11What is 010011001 in decimal? What is 134 in Binary?010011001 is 77
134 is 10000110 - 12What is 0001 + 1101The answer is 1110
- 13How do you work out the size of a picture?(Vertical pixels * horizontal pixels) * bit depth e.g.16-bit
- 14How is data represented digitally?Data on a computer is represented using binary which is a base-2 number system. It can only have 2 numbers: 1 and 0. To process data the computer turns the data whether it be image or sound or text into binary.
