- 2SIEVINGa simple technique for separating particles of different sizes (Solid and liquid or two solids of different sizes). Coarse particles are separated or broken up by grinding against one another and the screen openings.

- 10CENTRIFUGINGis a technique used for the separation of particles from a solution according to their size, shape, density, viscosity of the medium and rotor speed. They are suspended in a liquid, placed in a centrifuge tube placed in a rotor and spun at a define speed.
