1ASCIIThis stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange
2What is a character set?All the characters which are
represented/recognized by a computer
3How are characters stored on a computer?Each letter is assigned a
unique number this number is then converted/stored to binary
4how many bits does ASCII use and how many characters is thisASCII uses 7 bits to store all of the characters needed for the English language.
This gives 128 possible characters.
5extended ASCIIExtended ASCII uses 8 bits. It means it can store 256 characters!
6UnicodeUnicode was developed to
account for every language in the world.
It uses 16 bits so has a much
larger character set. (Over 65,000!).
7UnicodeThere has now been a 32 bit Unicode that has been made this has over 4294967296 characters (this includes emojis!) .
