- 2What are the main parts of the thyroid?2 Lateral lobes and isthmus (pyramidal lobe sometimes present)
- 3What attaches the thyroid capsule to teh trachea?pre-tracheal fascia or Berry's ligament
- 4What covers the thyroid gland anteriorly?Infrahyoid muscles and sternocleidomastoid
- 5What do the parathyroid glands do?Regulate calcium homeostasis via parathyroid hormone
- 6What are the two parathyroid cell types?Chief and Oxyphil cells
- 7What arteries supply the thyroid?Superior thyroid & Inferior thyroid arteries
- 8How is the thyroid drained?Superior & middle veins → Internal jugular vein
Inferior vein → Brachiocephalic vein - 9Where does the superior thyroid artery branch from?External Carotid Artery
