- 1Remember that each file in your working directory can be in one of two states:tracked or untracked
- 2Tracked files-are files that were in the last snapshot; they can be unmodified, modified, or staged.
- 3Untracked filesare everything else – any files in your working directory that were not in your last snapshot and are not in your staging area.
- 4git addAdds change in the working directory to the staging area (sometimes called index).
-Needs to called every time you alter a file
-Tells Git that you want to include updates o a particular file in the next commit.
-Are not recorded until you run git commit - 5Use git status toview the state of the working directory and the staging area
- 6git commit-Commits the staged snapshot to the project history
