Computing Flash Cards
Flashcards do conjunto (17)
- 1What are the numbers in the Binary sequence?1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128
- 2What is a "Quad Core CPU"?It's a CPU with four cores.
- 3What sort of storage device would be found in a smartphone ?SSD (solid state drive)
Sim Card - 4What sort of output device is in a smartphone?Speaker
Screen
LED's
Vibrating Device - 5What sort of input device is used in a smartphone?Touch Screen
Microphone
Accelerometer
Camera
Buttons - 6Why isn't lossy compression good for videos ?When the file is compressed some of the quality is lost, not visible in file but will look worse.
- 7What software's are used to protect computer data / files?Antivirus
Firewall - 8In what way can an OS provide additional data security?Username and password requirement, stops unauthorized people from accessing data. Encryption of files means that hackers won't be able to understand data if it is accessed.
- 9What does the term "High Level Code" mean when describing code? It's written by people.
Contains real words for commands.
It needs to be translated before executed. - 10What does the term "Machine code" mean when describing code?Cannot be understood by humans (Only for the CPU, because it's binary).
It's specific to a certain type of computer, therefore cannot be understood by two different systems. - 11If someone were to make high level code and machine code for a person what tool would they need and why?A compiler, to translate High Level Code into Machine Code and to pick up any syntax errors.
- 12What is meant by "Off the Shelf" software?Software commercially available to anyone, not made for a particular person.
- 13How can a data-handling software set up the structure of a database before data is added?By:
Creating tables
Defining Fields
Defining primary keys
Defining foreign keys
Setting field lengths - 14How does the CPU work with the RAM to perform tasks?Data of the programs being used at the time is stored in the RAM. It is then FETCHED by the CPU where it is then executed / processed.
- 15What is the purpose of "cache" memory ?To store instructions that are frequently used / next to be used / previously used.
This way the data doesn't need to be fetched from the RAM, therefore speeding up the entire process. - 16What is a Bus Network?A simple network where; computers, a server, printers and two end terminators are all connected to a single wire.
- 17On a multi camera security network what would be the best way to view all of the feeds? (Hardware)Multiple monitors, joystick, keyboard and mouse.
