- 1A population is a....Full group
- 2A sample is a.....Section of a population ("representative")
- 3Simple random sample:Each element of the population has some chance of selection
- 4Stratified sampling (Strata) :Split into groups
Sample randomly from each group
Size of sample in each group is proportional to the size of the group - 5Cluster sampling:Groups
1 stage ; randomly select 1 group to represent population
2 stage ; as above but "select in group" - 6Quota sampling:Same as stratified without the random element
- 7Opportunistic sampling:Sample whoever is there
It's quick, but could be bias - 8Systematic sampling:Follow some sampling rule to select
(e.g. every 3rd person)
