- 1Data is input and converted into binary language. This data can then be processed or stored in the computer. If it isn't stored, it can be given as an output instantly. If stored, this data can be recessed and reprocessed to give out an output in a future day.

- 2Input devices for computers consist of a keyboard, mouse, microphone, scanners and a camera. Output devices for computers can be a monitor, printer and a speaker.Input devices for phones can be an accelerometer (orientation of the screen), Bluetooth, touchscreen and a camera. Output devices can be Bluetooth, touchscreen and speakers.
- 3Reliability - is the probability that a computer will produce the correct outputs in a given timeframe. This means to say that the computer device doesn't cause errors and gets the job done as quick as possible. Some systems have to be so reliable that if it fails, it can cause a disaster - such as a computer system failing in a airplane whilst mid-air.
- 4Life critical or safety critical systems are computer systems that if fail, could cause death or serious injury. An example of a life critical device can be a heart pacemaker, nuclear power plant detector, railway signals or a hospital equipment. To improve the reliability of computer systems:
1. The system must have a clear design.
2. Designed with safety and possible failures in mind.
3. The design must have test plans and make testing easy.
4. Testing should be done throughout the development of the design. This can be done through simulators to test the dangers of consequences whilst not putting anyone's life at risk.
5. Maintenance and regular updates should be carried out after the release of the device so that it can be reliable for a longer time.
All of this helps to decrease the consequences of the device failing.
