  1. 1CPUThe CPU completes all the tasks for the computer, the instructions are fetched from the Ram and executed on the CPU.CPU
  2. 2Fetch-Decode-Execute CycleThe instructions are fetched from the RAM and then is decoded and prepares them to be executed, then the CPU executes the instruction.
  3. 3Control UnitThis component decodes instructions and sends signals to control how data moves around the CPU.
  4. 4Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)This component performs calculations such as addition and subtraction and logical decisions.
  5. 5What the registers are for.The registers are used to store small amounts of data that are needed during processing.
  6. 6The ClockThe clock is used to determine how fast the fetch-decode-execute cycle goes, it is measured in hertz (Hz).
  7. 7CacheThis memory provides fast access to frequently used instructions and data without having to go to the main memory (RAM).
  8. 8Program Counter (PC)Holds the address of the next instruction.
  9. 9Memory Data Register (MDR)Holds data fetched from, or to be written to the memory
  10. 10Memory Address Register (MAR)Stores the location in memory to be used by the MDR. Holds the address of where data is to be fetched or stored.
  11. 11AccumulatorHolds the results of recent calculations.
  12. 12Von Neumann ArchitectureThe Von Neumann Architecture is the architecture in which many systems are built upon today, the processor fetches, decodes, and executes and instruction before going onto the next instruction.
  13. 13RAM (Random access memory)Holds instructions for the CPU (volatile)
  14. 14ROM (Read only memory)Holds the BIOS (non-volatile)
  15. 15Virtual memoryActs as backup RAM located on the hard drive when the RAM is filled up, it hold instructions for programs that are not being currently used. (volatile)
  16. 16Secondary storageThis is the storage in which all of your programs are stored, it is non-volatile.
  17. 17Computational thinkingThinking in a way of step-by-step working, doing things in a way where you do specific things in an order.
  18. 18AbstractionRemoving all of the unnecessary information needed to solve a task, and circulating on only
  19. 19DecompositionBreaking down a problem into smaller steps which are easier to solve.
  20. 20Algorithmic ThinkingAlgorithmic thinking is where you get to a solution through clear step-by-step workings.
  21. 21ServerA server is a piece of computer hardware or software that provides functionality for other programs or devices.
  22. 22Client/ServerClient–server model is a distributed application structure that partitions tasks or workloads between the providers of a resource or service.
  23. 23Peer-to-peerPeer-to-peer computing or networking is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or workloads between peers. Peers are equally privileged.
  24. 24TopologyNetwork topology is the arrangement of the elements of a communication network.
  25. 25Star topologyA star topology is where all of the nodes are connected to a central switch or hub.
  26. 26Mesh topologyA mesh topology is where all of the nodes connect to each other.
  27. 27Partial mesh topologyA partial mesh topology is where some of the nodes are connected to each other but not all of them.
