Utility software	The utility software is used to maintain and/or configure a computer system.
Encryption	Scramble/encode/mix up data so it cannot be read/understood if stolen.
Defragmentation	Move free space and files together / Move files together which allows faster access to files.
Data compression	makes files smaller so it can use less storage space and have faster transmission (e.g. sending as an email attachments) an also to allow the user store more files.
Anti-malware software	To scan the computer to look for/quarantine/remove viruses/malware so that It can help protect computer/data against viruses/malware
Disk analysis/repair	Scan disk and look for faults to prevent loss of data due to faulty disk
Auto-update	Checks Internet for new versions of software/OS and downloads and installs without user interaction.
Firewall	Examine ingoing and outgoing traffic to help restrict/prevent unauthorised access over a network or another external source
