- 1What is the equation to find the axis of symmetry?The equation to find the axis of symmetry is: x= -b/2a or -b divided by 2a
The point is on the x axis - 2What is the axis of symmetry?The axis of symmetry is the invisible line that goes through two identical or symmetrical sides.
- 3What is the first step of creating a quadratic graphIt is to put the equation into standard form and find what each letter is equal to
e.g. 2x+x squared = 5x would be
ax + bx squared = cx
a is equal to 2, b is equal to 1 as there is only one x and c is equal to 5 - 4WHat is a vertex in quadratic graphs?The vertex is the starting pint of the line
- 5What do you do with the point of the axis o symmetry in the equationYou substitute the point of the axis of symmetry for x. So if the point was -1 instead of x you would put -1. Use this to create a new equation and the answer to it will be the vertex
- 6What do you do to find the vertex?You make a table of the x and y points. Start with the point of the axis of symmetry first in the x column.
Then substitute it into the original equation to figure out what y is and it will be the vertex - 7What do you do to get the other points of the graph?In your table, choose numbers, in the x column, on one side of the vertex and substitute them in to the original equation like with the point of the axis of symmetry. Solve the equations to get the y points
- 8What is the final step for drawing a quadratic graph?Mirror all the points you made on the other side of the axis of symmetry and connect all the points.
The line is called a parabola - 9What is the y intercept?The y intercept is where the graph will cross the y axis.
This is where x equals 0 - 10What do you do when you ind improper fractions as your co-ordinates?Turn them into mixed numbers so they are easier to understand
