Flashcards
2.3 - Algorithms - Flashcards
Flashcards do conjunto (8)
- 1AlgorithmsA sequence of steps designed to perform a particular task
- 2Algorithms can be written as- A programming language
- List
- Pseudocode
- Diagrams
- ... - 3Short for a list of numebers?[0, ..., n-1]
- 4Recursive AlgorthimsA function which calls itself inside that function
(e.g. factorial, while (n=3))
Advantage --> Less code needed
Must contain a termination condition to tell the code when to stop - 5Linear SearchMethodically searching one location after another until the value required if found
- 6Bubble SortComparing a value to the next one in a sequence and rearranging it to get the largest value on the top, then repeat until the values aer rearragnfed
- 7Insertion SortWorks by dividing a list into 2 parts:
- Sorted
- Unsorted
Elements are inserted one by one into their correct position in the sorted section - 8Binary SearchDivides the list into two continualy until the idem being searched for is found
For binary searching to work the list bus be in order
Usually quicker than linear
