Define: Salt Bridge A U-shaped tube that contains a gel permeated with a solution of an inert electrolyte to allow the migration of ions.
Define: Cathode The electrode where reduction takes place.
Define: Anode The electrode where oxidation takes place.
Define: Electrolyte A substance which in solution or molten conducts electricity.
Define: Electricity The flow of electrons.
Define: Galvanic Cell/Voltaic Cell A device in which a chemical reaction occurs in such a way as to produce electricity.
Define: Oxidation The loss of electrons.
Define: Reduction The gain of electrons.
Define: Reducing agent The substance which is oxidised, and therefore reduces another substance.
