White light separates into diferent colours when it passes through certain substance. This happens when sunlight shines through raindrops and creates a rainbow.

Part of the light is feflected from the surface of the water towards our eyes. The rays of light bounce off the surface are called reflected rays. Light reflects best off smooth surfaces. We take advantage of this phenomenom with mirrors

If light travels through a material that slows it down, such as glass and water, it changes direction. This bending of light is called refraction.

CONVEX LENS. When we look through a convex lens, objects look bigguer and closer. Telescopes and manifyng glasses

CONCAVE LENS. This makes objects seem smaller or father away than they really are
