MAIN PROPERTIES OF METALS

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:

hard, malleable, ductible and thought.

COPPER:

it is very good conductor, highly resistant to corrosion, ductile, malleable and easy to solder

THERMAL PROPERTIES:

good conductors, they expand, and some can be easily soldered.

ELECTRICAL AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES:

good conductors, and some have a magnetic behaviour.

TIN:

it is very ductile and malleable when cold. It is very easy to work with and to melt, and it is used as a filler metal for soft soldering.

IRON:

is soft, ductile and malleable. It rust easily.

OTHER PROPERTIES:

many rust easily, sound conductors, solid, heavy and dense.

STEEL:

it is easy to solder, it can be forged, it rusts easily and it is hard and though.

CAST IRON:

it is very resistant, it is easy to mould, it is difficult to solder and it is harder than steel.

ALUMINIUM:

it is very light, resistant to corrosion, a good conductor of heat and electricity, it isn't toxic, it is very ductile, malleable and easy to shape.

ZINC:

it is malleable, ductile, a good conductor and highly resistant to corrosion and rust.
