     • Can potentially take down all computers if the server goes boom

3. Devices

   • Switch
   • Router
     • a device which forwards data packets to the appropriate parts of a computer network.
   • Ethernet Cable
     • Ethernet cables connect devices together within a local area network, like PCs, routers, and switches.
   • NIC
     • A circuit board or card that is installed in a computer so that it can be connected to a network.
   • WAP
     • a specification for a set of communication protocols to standardize the way that wireless devices can be used for Internet access

   • HTTP
     • Hypertext Transfer Protocol This is the set of rules governing how hypertext is moved around the internet
   • HTTPS
     • HTTP Secure Encrypts data that is sent across the internet, it cannot be read if intercepted
   • POP3
     • Post Office Protocol Version 3 Protocol used for accessing emails and is commonly used in Microsoft Outlook to take the emails from an online location
   • SMTP
     • Simple Mail Transfer SMTP is used to send them from one server to another
   • IMAP
     • Internet Message Access Protocol
   • FTP
     • File Transfer Protocols How files are moved from one computer to another across the internet
   • TCP/IP
     • Transfer Control Protocol Internet Protocol Their collective role is to break up data into packets
   • Ethernet
     • Set of rules that governs how data is formatted for transmission across a local area network

     • Control how datais transmitted wirelessly on a local area network
