Data Protection

  1. Anti-Malware

    • Anti-malware is a software designed to detect as well as remove malware from your computer; this drastically reduces the chance of you finding malware due to it scanning websites, this means it knows if it includes malware and will warn you if it does. This means that the chances of malware infecting your computer as well as successful stealing your information is reduced massively.
  2. Firewall

    • A firewall can be either hardware or software, it also creates rules which are in place to control traffic (incoming and outgoing) from other networks; anything that doesn't follow the rules is denied access to the network. This greatly reduces the risk of a virus getting into your network since the firewall will detect that something is hidden in the traffic.
  3. User Access Levels

    • User access levels are usually controlled by either the owner of the network, or an administrator; this is something that's put in place to restrict other members of the network from doing/accessing certain things (such as accessing private information). These type of rules are usually found in companies because it helps keeping order in the network, plus, it gives certain people privileges depending on their position in the company.
  4. Password Strength Checker

    • A password strength checker is something that checks the strength of your password depending on the amount of capital letters, lower case letters, symbols and numbers, as well as their position of them in the password; it also accesses the length of your password so it knows how easy it would be to guess (or figure out by a brute force attack). These are all taken into account to access the strength of your password and if it'll be secure or not.
  5. Data Encryption

    • Encrypting data is one of the most effective methods of protecting information because only the people with a certain password or key will be able to decode as well as understand the encrypted data; this can make it extremely hard for software as well as hackers to decode and steal it.
  6. Storage Device Virus Scanning

    • This is a software which is installed to check through your storage (and the rest of your data) to attempt to find any type of harmful software such as malware or any other type of dangerous virus.
  7. Penetration Testing

    • Penetration testing is when you hire a (or a group) white-hat hacker to attempt to hack into your network to test your security measures; this is usually done by major companies and can be extremely helpful since they then know how to improve their security.
  8. Network Forensics

    • Network Forensics is something put in place to analyse as well as record a security attack so it can find the source and try and defend against it next time; this can also help a company figure out what parts of their security they need to improve to make their data more secure.
  9. Network Security Policies

    • Network security policies are put in place to stop security attacks by using legal rules to detect patterns and try to stop incoming attacks as well as block certain people who don't meet a criteria.
