   • The idea that the processing power of computers doubles each year
   • Pushes cybersecurity to constantly adapt

3. Encryption

   • Encryption
     • The process of converting a message to code
   • Caesar Cipher
     • A cipher based on an alphabetic shift
   • Encryption Algorithm
     • The rules to follow for ecryption
   • Encryption Key
     • The thing used to encrypt/decrypt a message
   • Symmetric Encryption
     • Both the sender and receiver use the same key
   • Asymmetric Encryption
     • The sender and receiver use different keys
   • Modulo Operation
     • Divides the input value by the modulus, then outputs the remainder.
     • e.g. 5 MOD 2 = 1
   • Public Key Cryptography
     • The algorithm is public, but the key is private.
     • Like a public mailbox with a private key

     • The process of decoding an encrypted message
   • Frequency Analysis
     • A method of decoding based on letter frequency
     • Helps decode substitution ciphers
   • Computationally Hard
     • Difficult for a computer to accomplish
