System Architecture Test 3 (Revision)
CPU
- Responsible for processing instructions.
RAM
- stores data for programs currently running on the computer.
Mother - board
- connects other components together to allow communication between components.
Graphics Card
- Processes graphics for the computer.
Hard Drive
- A long term storage device for files or data.
Network Cards
- Allow the computer to connect to a network.
Cache Memory
- A small memory chip build into the CPU.
- Data can transfer much faster to the Cache Memory because it is already inside the CPU so the data does not need to move to another component such as RAM or ROM.
An Embedded System
- A small computer system that is built into a larger device. This system will have a small number of tasks that it is designed to complete so that the device is able to work.
Fetch
- Fetches an instruction from the memory.
Decode
- Decodes the instruction, CPU needs to know what the instruction means.
Execute
- The CPU can now execute the instruction using the correct resources and data.
