1. Types of computer systems

   • Phone

2. Definition of a computer system

   • A computer system is something that takes in an input processes it and produces an output. This is made possible by Program and Storage.
   • When using a computer you enter an input then the computer processes the input and stores it until an event causes an output.
   • For Process to take place there has to be a sett of instructions this is called the program

3. Input, Process, Output

   • The role of an input in a computer is to provide data for further processing
   • Its when the input is manipulated to produce good information
   • Output is when the information obtained during the process is presented to the user in a suitable format.

4. Hardware and Software

   • Hardware is thins that are physically present e.g. you can touch, pick up and carry around.
     • External Hardware is hardware stored outside the computer
       • Monitor, Printer, Keyboard and the mouse are examples of external hardware.
     • Internal Hardware is hardware stored inside the computer.
       • Hard disk, Fan, Cpu and Motherboard are examples of internal hardware.
   • Software is applications and programming instructions that tell's your computer what to do and enables you to do things such as play games, listen to music and do this homework
     • Systems software is a type of software that basically controls the way the computer works and tells it what to do.
       • Operating system, utilities, user interface are all examples of systems software.
     • Application software is a type of software that lets you do your work and have fun.
       • Word, Excel and Call of Duty are all examples of application software.
