Multiple Intelligences

1. Howard Gardner

   • Defines intelligence as the ability to solve problems and to fashion products that have cultural value.

2. Linguistic

   • Is the ability to use words effectively
   • Areas like reading and writing, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar.
   • Professions
     • Orator, stand-up comedian, radio personality or politician.

3. Logical-Mathematical

   • Involves the capacity to work well with numbers and/or to be adept at logic or reasoning.
   • Professions
     • Scientist, tax accountant, computer programmer, or a higher mathematician.

4. Spatial

   • This is the intelligence of pictures and images. It involves the ability to visualize pictures in one's head.
   • Professions
     • Artist, sculptor, inventor
   • Where it is useful
     • Decorating our homes or landscaping our backyards or appreciating a work of art at a museum.

5. Bodily-Kinesthetic

   • Is the intelligence of the whole body, as well as the intelligence of the hands.
   • Athlete, dancer, mime, actor, machinist, seamstress, carpenter or surgeon.
