1. Terminology

   • Smartphone
     • An advanced mobile phone
   • Web Browser
     • A program that allows you to view webpages
   • Files
     • Collection of data.
   • Mainframe
     • Type of computer used in places such as a bank.
   • Software
     • Another name for programs
   • WiFi
     • A term used to identify wireless environments.
   • Netbook
     • A portable computer which has limited functionality
   • Storage
     • A component of a computer where data and programs are saved.
   • PDA
     • A small handheld computer.
   • Desktop
     • The type of computer used at home, not portable.

2. Types Of Computer

   • Mainframe
     • Mainframe computers are usually used by governmental organizations for processing bulks of data such as Census.
       • The main advantage of the mainframe computer is the high stability and reliability for processing data
       • The cost of the mainframe computer is substantially higher than the cost of a mainframe computer.
       • Usually found in factories.
   • Desktop or PC
     • A personal computer is not usually used for portable purposes. More for regular use at a single location, like a work desk or IT Suite.
       • A desktop computer has a larger storage capacity and will not run out of charge.
       • A desktop computer is not portable and must be plugged in at all times.
       • Found in homes and workplaces and education
   • Laptop or Notebook
     • A laptop is a portable personal computer that opens like a book. Usually used in education or workplaces.
       • Laptops are much smaller than a desktop and mainframe computers which means the portability factor is much easier.
       • Needs charging, more fragile, able of less demands and instructions.
       • Found in homes and workplaces - for personal and business use.
   • Netbook
     • A netbook is a smaller, lighter edition of the laptop.
       • Suitable for word processing and web browsing.
