Computational thinking
Logic
- Used to work out whether something is true or false
- ON = 1 and OFF = 0
- The outputs are shown in a truth table
- A truth table shows the output based on the inputs
NOT gate
- Has 1 input
- It inverts/swaps the input
- ¬A(NOT A), Truth table or
- It can be written as:
OR gate
- It has an output of 1 if either A or B is 1
- A V B (A or B), Truth table or
- It can be written as:
AND gates
- Only has an output of 1 if both A and B are 1
Combining logic gates
- You may be given a logic statement: A n (B V C)
- Always draw a logic diagram first
- You then draw a truth table after the diagram and like math's you start with the brackets
Arithmetic operators
- + = Addition
- - = subtraction
- / = Division
- * = multiplecation
- MOD = Modules
- Returns the remainder after a division
- DIV = Quotient
- Returns whole number after division
- ^ = Exponentiation
- One value to the power of another
Comparison operators
- == is equal to
- != not equal to
- < less than
- > more than
- <= less than or equal to
- >= greater than or equal to
Boolean operators
- AND if two or more statements are TRUE
- OR if either statement is true
- NOT reverse the logic result
