1. step one: Identify the problem.

   • open: what problems are you experiencing? What software has been installed recently?
   • closed: Is the laptop under warranty? questions that the answer will only be yes or no

2. Step two: Establish a theory.

   • could be Battery does not have charge or loose RAM or Loose cables or Battery will not charge.

3. Step three: Test the theory test theories you came up with in step two with the most simple first.

   • Replace battery,Dissconnect and reconnect ,remove and reinstall RAM

4. Step four:Establish a action plan to resolve the problem and implement the solution.

   • Computer or device manuals,online forum or internet search , technical website or other technicians , helpdesk repair logs.

5. Step five: Verify full system functionality and if applicable implement preventive measures

   • Reboot laptop ,connect all peripherals ,operate laptop only using the battery , print a document from the applications.
   • Type sample document to test the keyboard and check event viewer for warnings or errors.

6. Step six: Document findings actions and outcomes.

   • Discuss the solutions implemented with the costumer, Have costumer verify that the problem has been solved , Provide the costumer with all the paper work.
   • Document the steps taken to solve the problem in the work order and the technicians journal , document any components used in the repair and document the time spent to resolve the problem.
