Algorithms 2.1
Pseudocode
- It mimics how your code may look in the programming language BUT doesn't have to be exact
- Comparison operators
- == Equal to
- != Not equal to
- < Less than
- <= less than or equal to
- > greater than
- >= Greater than or equal to
- Arithmetic operators
- + Add
- - Subtract
- / Divide
- * Multiply
- Useful terms to use
- START
- IF
- ELIF
- ELSE
- FOR
- WHILE TRUE
- ENDIF
- END
- What is pseudocode?
- There is no "Correct" way to write it
- It's not an actual programming language
- It's a way to write out algorithms using code-like statements
Flowcharts
- Instructions
- START/STOP
- Always start and end with this
- INPUT/OUTPUT
- Use when an input or output required
- Decision e.g. Is A>10? yes or no
- When a choice has to be made in the program
- SUB ROUTINE
- Sequence that performs a specific task
- Process
- To do something in the program e.g. calculation
- Flow line
- show the flow of info in the algorithim
- START/STOP
