ENGINE HEAD

1. is formed by a piece of aluminum cast iron seal superiorly charge of the cylinders of a combustion engine to prevent loss of compression.

   • Also serves to accommodate therein the camshaft, spark plugs (in petrol engines), intake and exhaust valves and water pipes for cooling this.

         • generally, is made of alloy cast iron with other material, which add characteristics of strength, stiffness and thermal conductivity. at other times used aluminum alloys.
           • This material combines lightness with a high degree of thermal condictividad. This feature is highly desirable. ensures that the heat of combustion to be vented to the outside, avoiding the formation of hot spots that can cause detonation
       • functions
         • its first function is to accommodate alternative train, formed by the crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons
           • when the camshaft is not mounted on the cylinder head (such as OHV engine) there is a housing with supports for the camshaft valve
             • block has connections and openings through which several additional devices are controlled trave of crankshaft rotation, such as the water pump, fuel pump, oil pump and distributor (who own vehicles)
