Dynamic Routing
- Is a networking technique that provides optimal data routing, unlike static routing, dynamic routing enables routers to select paths according to real-time logical network layout changes.
- STATIC
- May use manually configured routing tables
- DYNAMIC
- Adaptative routing
- STATIC
- Is a networking technique that provides optimal data routing, unlike static routing, dynamic routing enables routers to select paths according to real-time logical network layout changes.
DHCP
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
Desirable Characteristic of Dynamic Routing
- Scalability
Convergence
- Is when all the routers have the same routing information
Interior Gateway Protocols
- RIP, EIGRP, ISIS OSPF
- RIP
- Routing Information Protocol
- RIPv1 is classful, and officially obsolete RIPv2 is classless
- Routing Information Protocol
- IGRP/EIGRP
- Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol
- Predecessor was IGRP which was classful
- Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol
- IS-IS
- Intermediate System to Intermediate System
- Debate between benefits of ISIS and OSPF
- Intermediate System to Intermediate System
- RIP
- RIP, EIGRP, ISIS OSPF
OSPF
- Open Shortest Path First
- Dijkstra algorithm
- Open Shortest Path First
SWITCHING TECHNIQUES
- Circuit Switching ,Message Switching ,Packet Switching
- CIRCUIT SWITCHING
- Is a technique that directly connects the sender and the receiver in an unbroken path for example the telephone.
- MESSAGE SWITCHING
- Each node receives the entire message, stores it in its entirety on disk, and then transmits the message to the next node
- PACKET SWITCHING
- Combine the advantages of message and circuit switching and to minimize the disadvantages of both
- CIRCUIT SWITCHING
- Circuit Switching ,Message Switching ,Packet Switching
ACL (Access Control Lists )
- There are lists of conditions that are applied to traffic traveling across a router's interface
- Verifying ACLs
- The show ip interface command displays IP interface information and indicates whether any ACLs are set.
- The show access-lists command displays the contents of all ACLs on the router.
- The show running-config command will also reveal the access lists on a router and the interface assignment information.
- Verifying ACLs
- There are lists of conditions that are applied to traffic traveling across a router's interface
Standard ACL Operation and Configuration
- One ACL per protocol
- To control traffic flow on an interface, an ACL must be defined for each protocol enabled on the interface.
- One ACL per direction
- ACLs control traffic in one direction at a time on an interface. Two separate ACLs must be created to control inbound and outbound traffic.
- One ACL per interface
- ACLs control traffic for an interface, for example, GigabitEthernet 0/0.
- One ACL per protocol
