1. Data redundancy

   • Data redundancy takes up space in the memory and is very inefficient and will be caused with flat file databases.

2. Validation check

   • presence check
     • To check that the data exists and is complete
   • Input masks
     • To make sure your data is in the correct format, E.G: for a date, you would have DD/MM/(YY)YY (Day/Month/Year)
   • Range check
     • Limits the range of data that can be entered, E.G: 1-31 days in a month

3. Boolian

   • True or false, Yes or no, etc.

4. Entity

   • A real world object, E.G: A table in a database

5. Atribute

   • Items that make up an entity

6. Foreign key

   • Data from a different table

7. D.B.M.S. (Data base management system)

   • Benefits
     • Easy security
     • Easy to maintain
     • Multiple access points/ devices
       • Will not disrupt if one application is updated
   • Maintain records in table
