Physic! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  1. Law of Conservation of Energy: This law means that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it can only be transformed or transferred from one form to another. For instance, chemical energy is converted to kinetic energy when a stick of dynamite explodes. If one adds up all forms of energy that were released in the explosion, such as the kinetic energy and potential energy of the pieces, as well as heat and sound, one will get the exact decrease of chemical energy in the combustion of the dynamite.

  2. Energy efficiency is a measure of how well something converts input energy into useful energy. The efficiency for any object is given as a decimal, or maybe percentage.

  3. Current - a flow of electrical charge carriers, usually electrons or electron-deficient atoms. Voltage – the pushing force that the cell created to push the electricity around. Differentiate between the two of these. They are not the same as each other. Electrons - An electron is a negatively charged subatomic particle. It can be either free (not attached to any atom), or bound to the nucleus of an atom.

  4. Current in wires is a flow of electrons along the wires. Electrons has charge and some are able to leave their owner atoms and to move somewhere else. In an electrical circuit, the current is filled with freelance electrons. The bigger the current, the more electrons are flowing around the circuit. The wires carry the electrons from one terminal around the circuit to another terminal.

  5. The current at different positions in the circuit, before and after the resistor, was the same. Current is not used up by the circuit components. Increasing the number of components in the circuit decreases the current, but at all points in the series circuit, the current remains the same.

  6. Citric fruits have an acidic content. The more acidic a fruit is, the better electrical conductor it is. Fruit contains positively charged ions. When the nail was inserted, the negatively charged ions started to move from the fruit to the metal nail. This pushes the electrons that are already in the nail.

  7. Series circuit – one which has only one path through which the electricity (electrons) flows. From one end of the cell (battery), the electrons move along one path with no branches. Parallel circuit – one which can contain a joint (a junction) where the current can split, and rejoin.

  8. The current is split up at first junction, and then joins together at the second junction. If the bulbs are identical then there will be an even split. If the bulbs are not identical, then the current will not split equally.

  9. When describing voltage, current, and resistance, a common analogy is a water tank. In this analogy, charge is represented by the water amount, voltage is represented by the water pressure, and current is represented by the water flow. So for this analogy, remember:  Water = Charge  Pressure = Voltage  Flow = Current Consider a water tank at a certain height above the ground. At the bottom of this tank there is a hose. The pressure at the end of the hose can represent voltage. The water in the tank represents charge. The more water in the tank, the higher the charge, the more pressure is measured at the end of the hose. We can think of this tank as a battery, a place where we store a certain amount of energy and then release it. If we drain our tank a certain amount, the pressure created at the end of the hose goes down. We can think of this as decreasing voltage, like when a flashlight gets dimmer as the batteries run down. There is also a decrease in the amount of water that will

  10. Power measures how much energy is transferred every second. It is the rate of energy transfers, measured in Watts or alternatively, Joules/second.

  11. The larger the cross-sectional area of the wire the lower the resistance, since the electrons have larger room to move through.

  12. Resistance – when it tells us how hard it is for a current to flow through a component in a circuit. Resistance is measure using Ohms (Ω). The bigger the value of resistance the lower the current.

  13. The longer a wire is, the more resistance it has, due to the longer path electrons have to move from one point to another.

  14. The type of material will affect the amount of free electrons, which are able to move through the wire. Moreover, different metals have different conductivity.

  15. Renewable energy is energy produced from sources that do not deplete or can be replenished within a human's life time. The most common examples include wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, and hydropower. This is in contrast to non- renewable sources such as fossil fuels.
