1. Reflection of light

   • Specular Reflection(top diagram)
     • Dotted line is the normal line and it's always perpendicular to the smooth surface
     • The box is the smooth surface/boundary in which the light reflects off of
     • The incoming light ray is the incidence ray and the ray moving away from the boundary is the reflected ray
     • Specular reflection is when a light ray hits a smooth surface and reflects off the smooth surface in a single direction without scattering
   • Diffuse Reflection
     • The weird-shaped box is the rough surface/boundary in which he light reflects off of
     • To help draw the reflected ray,you draw the tangent which is a straight line drawn horizontally across the point of where the incident ray first hits the surface.You then draw the normal line(perpendicular to the tangent)through the middle of the tangent and measure the angle between the normal line and incidence ray.After that you draw a line the same angle away from the normal line as the incidence ray to get the reflected ray
     • Diffuse reflection is when a light ray hits a rough surface and reflects off the rough surface scattered in different directions

2. Refraction of Light

   • Light moves in air(which is a vacuum) at 3x10^8m/s. Since the density of glass is higher the wave speed changes to approx. 2.5x10^8m/s.As the wave speed changes(in this case it becomes slower)when the light ray(i.e.the incidence ray) hits the boundary, in this case the glass, which also changes the direction of the wave(in this case,the refracted ray line will be closer to the normal line as it's lagging, since the wave speed is slower.)
