1. Trained to think, behave and learn like a human

   • Can feel, make decisions and produce ideas
   • Turing test
     • The test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivilent to, or indistinguishable from, a human.

2. Expert systems

   • Tries to replicate a human based upon answers to questions
   • Asks a series of questions then makes a decision or gives a solution
   • Commonly used by doctors or technical support to find solutions to problems
     • To diagnose a patient
       • Symptoms are entered
     • To produce a solution to a problem
       • Trouble shooting
   • Advantages
     • Can be used 24/7. Making effective decisions
     • Faster than training a person
     • Reliable and efficient
     • Cheaper to use
   • Disadvantages
     • Expensive to set up and keep knowledge up to date
     • Only as good as the knowledge and rules entered
     • Does not have common sense
     • Cannot take everything into account. Has a 'cold' approach
