        1. Balletts = madrigal + nonsense syllables, homophonic
          1. Canzonetts = little songs, no nonsense syllables, comical
        2. Stilo antico = conservative northern Italian Style
          1. Antiphon = plainsong tuna sung by one choir to another
          2. Motets = piece of music sung in Latin. Lead to polyphonic music
            1. Keyboards of the Renaissance. Clavichord = used in composition
              1. Harpsichord = used in fuges, plucked, no dynamics
                1. Virginals = small harpsichord, young ladies
                  1. Claviorgan = chords with harpsichord melody
                    1. Consort of Viols = bowed string instrument, ensemble, courts, Byrd
                      1. Lute song = singer + lute, lyrics were very important (love)
